TRUE COMMUNITY CREDIT UNION CELEBRATES NATIONAL FINANCIAL LITERACY MONTH

TRUE Community Credit Union provides new youth opportunities.

JACKSON, MI. April 26, 2022 – TRUE Community Credit Union announces the recipients of 10 scholarships as part of National Financial Literacy Month.

TRUE Community Credit Union awarded 10 students with a $500 scholarship each. This year students graduating high school in the 2022 graduating class and students over the age of 23 that have a high school diploma or their GED and are now seeking a degree or returning to complete their degree had the opportunity to apply.

Applicants submitted an essay on how Financial Education prepares you for your future.

This responsibility extends to the many educational opportunities we offer in our communities and with our partners. This work is key to our mission to cultivate legacy-defining moments for the people and places we serve for generations to come as we are very aware of the impact our youth have on the future. We feel blessed to have the opportunity to pour into the lives of our youth.”

STAFF NOMINATES TEAM MEMBERS FOR VARIOUS AWARDS

TRUE Community Credit Union awards their 2021 Annual Employee Awards 

JACKSON, MI, February 23, 2022 – TRUE Community Credit Union awards 10 individuals as part of their Annual Employee Awards. The awards were announced during an all-staff meeting on February 10, 2022. The awards were given based on personal nominations from team members.

Heather Harback, Vice President of People and Culture Management, says, "We have an amazing team who deliver on our values every day. The Annual Employee Awards create the opportunity for any employee to nominate and recognize someone who is consistently living out those values and going above and beyond for our members, community and teammates. Our winners were voted on by their peers, and that signifies the incredible impact they’ve had at TRUECCU.”

Awards were given in three categories: The Value Champion Awards, The Pillar Awards and Employee of the Year Award. Within these three categories, the awards were broken down again by our Values, Member Service and Community. The winners of each category are the following:

TRUE COMMUNITY CREDIT UNION OPENS NEW BRANCH IN VANDERCOOK LAKE

TRUE Community Credit Union will serve more members by expanding footprint.

Jackson, MI, October 27, 2021- TRUE Community Credit Union has opened a new branch in Vandercook Lake. The new site is located at 1304 East McDevitt Ave., Jackson, MI  next to Biggby Coffee.

The branch officially opened on October 18, 2021, with the grand opening on October 26, 2021. TRUE Community Credit Union celebrated its grand opening by partnering with Biggby Coffee to purchase coffee for Biggby customers and TRUE Community Credit Union members from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. In addition, the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony to commemorate the grand opening.

Chrissy Siders, President/CEO of TRUE Community Credit Union stated, “We could not be more excited to begin serving members at our new Vandercook Lake Branch! This branch is just another example of our commitment to be TRUE to our members in both location and technology. For the past several years, we have received a stream of requests for a location in this area and are extremely excited at this opportunity to fulfill that ask and neighbor with a community-focused local business like Biggby”.

The Vandercook Lake branch location will feature a Video Teller/ATM Machine. This new technology will allow members to interact with a TRUE Community Credit Union Teller during business hours via video. The Video Teller/ATM can also be used as an ATM 24 hours a day.

TRUE Community Credit Union has 12 branch locations in Jackson, Ingham, and Washtenaw counties and accepts membership from anybody who lives, works, worships, or attends school in the state of Michigan.

American 1 and TRUE Community Announce Record-Breaking Fundraiser Results for Hospice Home

Jackson, MI – November 5th -  In its 21 year history, the Annual Hit ‘Em Fore Hospice Golf Benefit went off without a hitch, thanks to the unique partnership of American 1 Credit Union and TRUE Community Credit Union.

This year’s event, which took place at the Grande Golf Club on Monday, Sept. 13, exceeded previous fundraising records by raising more than $68,000. Of this total, $5,000 was brought in the day of the event itself through basket raffles, a 50/50 raffle, mulligan sales, and tumblers – which was another event record.

“The partnership between American 1 Credit Union and TRUE Community Credit Union was once again incredible to be part of,” said Martha Fuerstenau, President/CEO of American 1 Credit Union and Chair of the Henry Ford Allegiance Health Board of Directors. “I’m glad the event could be put on safely in-person after being held virtually in 2020. There’s something powerful about community members coming together, fighting for such an important cause like hospice care. Thank you to the community, volunteers, sponsors and staff members who made this event possible and a major success.”

The record-breaking proceeds from this year’s event directly benefit local families in need of the unique end-of-life care provided by the Hospice Home. Numerous sponsors, supporters, and volunteers, along with the combined energy of the two credit unions are what contributed to the success of this year’s outing. Since 2019, American 1 and TRUE Community have joined forces in support of the Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice Home.  The outing has raised more than $439,000 for the Hospice Home since its inception in 2000.

Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice Home is the only residence for end-of-life care in Jackson County. The Hospice Home offers private patient rooms with sleeping space for loved ones, a water therapy spa room with walk-in tub, and features that encourage family gatherings, such as outdoor patios and walking paths, a gazebo and garden, children’s playground, and two lounge areas with kitchens.

TRUE Community Credit Union, Consumers Energy and Michigan Saves partner to offer a new promotion to help for Jackson residents.

 
JACKSON, MI. May 19, 2021– TRUE Community Credit Union, Consumers Energy, and Michigan Saves have teamed up to provide Jackson County residents a clean energy financing promotion for residential energy efficient upgrades.
 
Michigan Saves is a non-profit organization that provides a clean energy lending program that assists homeowners with finding an authorized contractor, an online application for financing and connecting with a qualified lender.
 
“We are delighted to announce this special offer for Jackson County residents,” said Mary Templeton, president and CEO of Michigan Saves. “This partnership offers even more reasons to make the investment in a safe, clean, efficient home. We’ve lined up the incentives and the resources that help make it easy, affordable, and accessible for people who live in Jackson County.”
 
TRUE Community Credit Union is proud to be a Michigan Saves lending partner that offers low-interest loans for qualified energy saving upgrades. For projects completed by Oct. 31, Jackson County homeowners are eligible for below-market interest rates with flexible terms up to 15 years with no penalty for early repayment.

TRUE Community Donates to Local Schools

TRUE Community Credit Union donates $33,000 to schools in Michigan.
 
JACKSON, MI. February 8, 2021 – TRUE Community Credit Union donated $33,000 to schools in Jackson, Ingham and Washtenaw counties. TRUE Community Credit Union gave $1,000 to 33 local school partners that provide a TRUE Community Student-Run Credit Union program, the Jackson $aves program or both to their students. The donations are to help meet any student, staff or teacher needs. TRUE Community team members personally delivered the money to the schools today.
 
Chrissy Siders, President/CEO of TRUE Community Credit Union, stated, “We are humbled to be able to give this small token of our appreciation to the schools in our community. We can’t think of a group that embodies the definition of essential better than our educators. TRUE Community Credit Union, formerly CP Financial Credit Union, has partnered with the Jackson, MI schools for more than 30 years, providing our Student-Run Credit Union Program. This program functions as a credit union branch; however, the students operate the in-school branches; this provides a unique, interactive way for students to learn about saving money and making good financial choices. The program is designed to serve students, teachers, and staff at participating schools.
 
TRUE Community Credit Union is proud to partner with the Jackson Community Foundation and the Jackson County Intermediate School district to bring Jackson $aves to our community. Jackson $aves is a free children’s savings account program designed to assist with education and training expenses after high school. Incoming kindergarteners are eligible to enroll. Students who enroll in the program will receive a $50.00 opening deposit into their Jackson $aves account. Students can save for their future at any TRUE Community branch location and any student branch location. Also, students can earn incentives to help grow their account.

TRUE Community Credit Union officially launched on January 1st, 2021. CP Financial Credit Union located in Jackson, MI and Washtenaw Federal Credit Union located in Ypsilanti, MI have joined as TRUE Community.

TRUE Community Credit Union will serve more than 64,000 members with $600 million in assets and will offer 12 branch locations in Jackson, Ingham, and Washtenaw counties. TRUE Community Credit Union brings 138 combined years of serving members, communities, and employees. Chrissy Siders will serve as President/CEO, and Jason Matley will serve as Executive Vice President of Strategy and Transformation.

We are so pleased to announce plans to finalize a merger with Washtenaw Federal Credit Union!

Through a voting process, WFCU members approved the merger on November 10th, 2020. Members strongly favored the merger with an 84% approval. In addition to the merger, CP Financial Credit Union and Washtenaw Federal Credit Union will operate with a new name, TRUE Community Credit Union. The name change will officially take place on January 1st, 2020.

Plans include combining both teams of CPFCU and WFCU and retaining all staff as well as expanding membership eligibility under a state charter in which anyone who lives, works, worships or attends school in the state of Michigan will be invited to join.

TRUE Community Credit Union will have more than 63,000 members, $600 million in assets and will serve 12 branches located in Jackson, Ingham, and Washtenaw counties. TRUE Community Credit Union represents 138 combined years of serving members, communities, and employees.

CP Financial Credit Union year in review with awards, state charter conversion, and plans for a merger with a rebrand

During 2020, CP Financial Credit Union has received numerous awards, successfully converted to a state charter, and announced plans for a merger and rebrand. CP Financial Credit Union 2020 Awards include:
 
•The Detroit Free Press recognized CP Financial Credit Union as a Top Workplace in the state of Michigan. CP Financial Credit Union has received this honor for seven consecutive years. The list is based solely on employee feedback gathered through a third-party survey administered by employee engagement technology partner Energage,LLC.
 
•The Michigan Credit Union League and the Credit Union National Association awarded the Financial Education team with the Alphonse Desjardins Award. The Jackson SavesProgram was given this year’s honor for leadership within the credit union movement on behalf of youth and adult financial literacy.
 
•The Michigan Credit Union Foundation Award for Excellence in Consumer Education was awarded to CP Financial Credit Union’s Community Education Supervisor, Kelly Hatler.•Jackson Magazine awarded CP Financial Credit Union as The Best Credit Union as part of the Best of Jackson Awards, which are voted on by the community.

Kasasa to Michigan Made Checking

We listened, we learned, and we have exciting news to share! We have completed a full review of our checking account programs and are ready to make a change starting with your Kasasa checking account. Effective November 1, 2020 your Kasasa checking account will be automatically charged to our new flagship account called Michigan Made Checking. If you currently have Choice Checking, your account will be automatically changed to our Just Checking account. There is nothing you need to do on your end, we have worked diligently to make this transition absolutely seamless for you.
 
Key things to know:
  • Your account number will not change
  • Your checking account suffix (0100,0110) will remain the same
  • You will not need to get a new debit card OR new checks
  • Your direct deposit, automatic payments, or automatic withdrawals will not be impacted, they will continue to work as scheduled and you will not have to make any changes
  • Nothing will change with your Overdraft Protection if you currently have the coverage
